Prince Philip, the Queen’s husband is known for being upfront and outspoken. So when the Duke of Edinburgh discovered a shocking thing about a member of his family, he was not forgiving. While still married to Prince Andrew, though separated, Sarah Ferguson – known as Fergie – was photographed in the South of France with John Bryan, her financial adviser.
She was topless and he was sucking her toes.
A few days later, when the photos came out in the papers, Fergie was with the Royal Family at Balmoral in Scotland.
Royal correspondent James Whitaker said: “It happened in front of the whole family at the Queen’s country residence in Scotland.
“She was late into breakfast and everybody had got a copy of the Daily Mirror.

“As she walked into the room, they all stuffed it under their Times and Telegraphs and that sort of thing.

The family relationship, not good to begin with, never recovered.
The Queen’s husband Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, is said to be the frostiest towards his former daughter-in-law.

But the Queen has also had problems with Fergie, and on the day the pictures came out, the monarch firmly asked Fergie to leave the estate.
The monarch and her husband are reportedly still taking pains to ensure they are never in the same room as Prince Andrew’s ex-wife.
Sarah joined the British Royal Family when she married Prince Andrew in 1986.
Prince Andrew had known Fergie since childhood, and they had met occasionally at polo matches, and became re-acquainted with each other at Royal Ascot in 1985.

However, by March 1992, the were having marital problems and decided to separate.
Following the separation, Buckingham Palace announced that Fergie would no longer carry out public engagements on behalf of the Queen.
Furthermore, the Queen announced in a statement that she would not take responsibility for Sarah’s debts.
Fergie and the Duke of York officially divorce four years later, in 1996.
Despite the turmoil, the two have remained good friends and even described themselves as the “world’s happiest unmarried couple”.
