The ‘Parks and Recreation’ alum’s artist boyfriend proposed to her ‘in an abandoned castle in southern France’ during their vacation, less than a year after they went public with their relationship.
Jenny Slate is engaged to marry her boyfriend Ben Shattuck, a year after she broke up with her former on-/off-boyfriend Chris Evans. The actress and comedian took to Instagram on Monday, September 9 to share the happy news.
“He took me to France and made a picnic and made me feel happy and free and then he asked me to marry him and i screamed YES,” Jenny wrote. Gushing about her now-fiance, she added, “I love you @benshattuck_art, you are the kindest and brightest and I am so grateful and here we go and keep going.”
The former “Saturday Night Live” cast member shared a number of their pictures apparently taken during their vacation in Europe. In the last picture of the slideshow, the 37-year-old showed off her engagement ring. The vintage-inspired ring features a dark stone on a gold band.
Ben, an artist and writer, shared more details of the proposal on his own Instagram account. “In an abandoned castle in southern France, I asked this woman to marry me,” he wrote along with pictures of his future wife and their intimate moments together. “Here she is in front of a door the color of her soul. In LA / MA / Holland / Belgium / France thank you @jennyslate and UP UP UP to more adventures.”
Jenny was previously married to filmmaker Dean Fleischer-Camp, with whom she collaborated on the “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On” books and short films, from 2012 until 2016. Shortly after announcing their separation, the “Parks and Recreation” alum started dating her “Gifted” co-star Chris Evans. The former pair had an on-and-off relationship for over a year before they parted ways in 2018.
Jenny and Ben were first spotted together at Sundance Film Festival in January. The two were reportedly seen getting cozy at The Vulture Spot and also pictured having a dinner that same day, during which he sweetly kissed Jenny on the forehead.
